Autumn Historic Polegreen Church Wedding in Mechanicsville, VA | Cat and Brad
Historic Polegreen Church Wedding
Cat and Brad’s wedding at The Historic Polegreen Church Foundation in Mechanicsville, Virginia was well worth the wait! They booked me in the beginning of 2019 and because of COVID, their wedding was pushed to October 2021. I was super excited about their wedding and the vision they had for it from the moment they met me. Cat is an architect and she fell absolutely in love with The Historic Polegreen Church because of the unique build of this open air venue. It truly is the most unique outdoor venue I have ever seen and with it being it the woods, it made the perfect backdrop for a fall Virginia wedding.
My favorite parts of the day…
All of the DIY from Cat and Brad! Okay so like my question is, when are these two going to open up shop for making things?! Cat created her bouquet, the boutonnieres and the floral hoops for her bridesmaids with fake flowers and they looked so freaking good! I was especially impressed by the floral hoops that she made for her bridesmaids. Brad on the other hand grew peppers in his Washington D.C apartment garden and make 2 different types of hot sauce to give to their guests as favors (I stole one for myself and it was SO good).
The ceremony…. like holy crap it was so beautiful and crazy! A little back story… minutes before their ceremony was suppose to start, it poured down rain out of nowhere. Since the venue was outside and their reception was in an open tent, we had to wait it out. The rain stopped and we started the ceremony about a half hour later. A few minutes into their ceremony, it started to lightly rain but everyone just embraced it and damn it was SO beautiful. Their ceremony photos are so of my all time favorites I have ever taken. More rainy ceremonies please!
Lastly, I just LOVED Cat’s aesthetic and style for her bridal look. Cat definitely gives off punk rock alternative vibes and she totally embraced that for her wedding. Cat had black matte nails (my favorite), wore a black leather jacket during her ceremony and later did a shoe switch to black velvet Doc Martins (Please dress me Cat! <3). She also got a custom made crystal quartz comb from The Farrow and The Sparrow. Her bridesmaids wore long green velvet dresses which were looked so freaking good.
I was SO honored to be apart of Cat and Brad’s day. They put so much thought and intention into planning such a beautiful wedding.
