Winter Elopement | Warrenton, Virginia
Back in February on a cold and rainy winter day, I was sitting on my laptop enjoying a cup of hot tea and doing some office work when all of the sudden I got a notification on a local photography group I am in from another wedding photographer in a panic about an elopement she had that day. Where she was driving from the roads were dangerous from lots ice and snow. Being very nervous to drive, she asked if anyone would be willing to cover the elopement for her last minute. I responded and within minutes, a day that I thought meant chilling in my pjs turned in me putting my wedding photography hat on.
A short three hours later, I arrived in downtown Warrenton, VA and met Ricardo and Katherine. At the end of last year, Ricardo proposed to Katherine while on a vacation in Chincoteague Island. The two were just so in love and eager to get married that they decided to elope as soon as they could. Both being full time students and at two different schools, (Katherine studying law and dancing ballet professionally and Ricardo getting his PHD in philosophy) the two chose 2 days before Valentines Day to make their love official.
During our 3 short hours together, we captured quite a lot of memories. First I got some getting ready photos of the two. Katherine being a huge Etsy fan ordered one of the most beautiful dresses I have ever seen that complimented her inner ballerina and Ricardo got the coolest pocket watch ever that made for some great photos. Then both Ricardo and Katherine shared a beautiful first look. After that, we all braved the rain and walked to a local park and had an epic portrait session which looked as though we were in Scotland or Ireland (even though in reality we were in good old Fauquier county). Upon returning from our portrait session, we were met by their immediate families who they shared some yummy Venezuelan desserts prior to the ceremony. After a short and sweet intimate ceremony the two were officially married!
I really enjoyed capturing Katherine and Ricardo’s elopement and getting to know their families. Wishing them both all the happiness in the world!
