Denver Photo Collective Family of Three Studio Portraits | Roxanne, Michael and Nora
Minimalist Family Studio Portraits at Denver Photo Collective
I had the honor of capturing Roxanne, Michael and their daughter Nora for the first time as a family of three a few months ago! This was the first time getting professional family photos taken and I was so excited they chose me as their photographer! As a family photographer, I think it is so important to get professional pictures taken at least once a year to document family milestones. Since it was late fall and getting colder, they wanted to take indoor studio portraits. I recommended my favorite studio rental space Denver Photo Collective!
Denver Photo Collective is where I like to take my clients wanting studio portraits because it has a lot of options. The space includes a lot of different spaces to utilize for all types of different photo shoots including a commercial lighting studio, a cyclorama wall, a bed and a couch set up. Since it was around the holidays when I did this photoshoot, there was even a holiday setup to utilize. There are also an abundance of colorful props, backdrops, plants, furniture and more to utilize during photo shoots. And to make things easy and homey feeling for guests, there are snacks, a bathroom, a dressing room and a child’s playroom.
For Roxanne, Michael and Nora’s family portraits, we utilized the cyclorama wall and natural light for a minimalist portrait aesthetic. As a photographer, I prefer a minimalist portrait aesthetiic when taking portraits in indoor studios. I love that with minimalist photography you can achieve a clean and clutter-free look that allows the focus to be on the subject(s). It makes it easier to focus on capturing emotions and personalities. And for the viewers, it draws their eyes right to the subjects.
I was really satisfied with how emotive and fun Roxanne, Michael and Nora’s family portraits turned out. Something I loved about their photos was how natural and candid they felt! We all had to act fast and make things really fun to keep Nora engaged in the photoshoot which made for some great photos that really captured everyone’s personalities. For their first time being in front of the camera as a family, I would say they were total naturals!
